COA International is made possible by a fantastic and friendly team of professionals who are the top achievers in their respective fields, grounded in modern pedagogy and tested teaching methods. Together, we are fully committed to helping young people around the world get a top-quality education.
I am a science educator who is passionate about seeing students succeed and achieve their dreams. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Physics and Mathematics, a Bachelor of Education Honours degree in Mathematics and Science Education and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
I have worked at several schools and held various positions, including Head of Department of Science, Director of Studies and School Principal for two years. My experience spans over thirty years, and I have achieved excellent results at all schools where I worked. In South Africa, I had the best students in the country for Cambridge examinations in Physics five times from 2010. One of my top students is completing his studies in aeronautical engineering at the Royal Imperial College of London. I believe every child is capable of achieving their full potential if given enough support.
My journey into teaching philosophy started when I was a student myself. It has been fascinating to read and investigate the writings of scholars concerned with the fundamental principles of learning. Using this knowledge, I started to help children at my school in their studies, and I contributed to the delivery of teaching and tutorials by providing personal academic support and mentoring for groups of students. I continued to do so throughout my University years.
I was always interested in sciences and the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics, which I have been granted by the University, made possible for me to teach others and share this fascinating knowledge with my students. My first real teaching position as a Physics teacher was at the Greenfields School where I began to expand my knowledge by concurrently studying at the University of Buckingham for Postgraduate Qualification in Education and working through the Teachers’ Standards.
Working alongside many teachers and collaborating with other schools made me realise that underachieving students and over-filled classrooms are today all too common. I recognised that the cookie-cutter, assembly-line approach to education is badly in need of an update – hence COA International was born, with the simple aim of helping young people around the world get a top-quality education. I always intended to create a school which offers a safe, friendly, and supportive environment; a school where children will be given not only the skills and knowledge needed to pass qualifications but also entire approaches to learning that will serve them throughout their lives.
